Sine Displacement
Displaces every point on the path by a sine wave, producing predictable wavy distortions. The most common filter for turning a straight-line generator into a wavy pattern.

Parameters
Sine Displacement parameters
Amplitude- Peak displacement in mm. Range 0–100, default 10. At 0 the filter has no effect; higher values produce deeper waves.
Frequency- Wave frequency in radians per mm. Range 0.001–0.5, default 0.05. Higher frequencies produce more peaks per unit length.
Phase- Phase offset in radians, applied uniformly to every point. Range 0 to 2π, default 0. Shifts the wave along the chosen axis.
Axis- Which axis the displacement acts on. Choices: X (displacement added to X, driven by Y coordinate), Y (displacement added to Y, driven by X). Default X.
Displacement formula: displacement = Amplitude × sin(coordinate × Frequency + Phase) where coordinate is Y (when axis=X) or X (when axis=Y).
Typical use
- Wavy stripes on top of Parallel Lines.
- Bent coils on top of Concentric Curves.
- Stacked effects — run two Sine Displacement filters on different axes for criss-crossing waves.
