Effects
In the G-code Sculptor, effects (modulators) reshape the circular cross-section as it is swept up the model. They add surface textures, ripples, bumps, cutouts, and structural details—anything that changes the printed shell beyond the raw profile curve.
What effects do
- Profile-driven displacement — Most effects push or pull the wall inward and outward, or modulate extrusion, so the vase-mode mesh gains ridges, waves, or organic variation while staying compatible with the same export pipeline.
- Parameters — Every effect exposes controls (counts, depths, frequencies, seeds, and so on). Small changes often produce large visual differences, so the docs list typical ranges next to each parameter where it matters.
- Stacking — You can enable several effects at once. They compose in order: items higher in the list run first, and later effects see the geometry produced by earlier ones. Put broad base treatments first, detailed patterns next, and end caps or global envelopes where they should evaluate on the final shape.
- Growth curve — Many effects respond to the growth curve, a height-based multiplier that scales strength from bottom to top. Effects that support it can fade in, fade out, or peak in the middle without hand-editing the profile. See Growth curve.
- Categories — The effect picker groups related tools (textures, transforms, shapes, cutouts, caps, and more) so you can browse by intent rather than by internal type name.
Related tools
The Effects tab in the left dock is where you stack modulators and, separately, apply transforms (twist, bend, taper, stretch) that operate on the whole form. Cutout-style effects remove extrusion where the pattern demands— the nozzle travels without depositing material (for example Hole Grid, Voronoi Cutout).
