Wave Field

Periodic scalar field — sin / cos / saw / square / triangle — projected along an axis of the sample positions. The result is a traveling wave that can be frozen or animated via phase.

Sockets

samples (in)
PointArray / Path. Required.
frequency (in)
Float. Cycles per world unit (along the chosen axis).
amplitude (in)
Float. Peak magnitude of the wave.
phase (in)
Float. Phase offset in radians.
values (out)
PointArray — scalar wave in the x-channel.

Parameters

Waveform
sin (smooth), cos (sin shifted), saw (ramp), square (0/1 step), triangle (bipolar ramp). Default: sin.
Axis
Which sample component drives the wave: x, y, or z. Default: x.
Frequency
Cycles per world unit. Default: 0.1.
Amplitude
Output magnitude. Default: 1.
Phase
Phase shift in radians. Default: 0. Animate to scroll the wave.

How It Works

For each sample p:

t = frequency * p[axis] + phase
values[i].x = amplitude * waveform(t)

where waveform is one of sin, cos, saw (t/(2π) mod 1), square (0 or 1), or triangle (1 - |2·frac(t/(2π)) - 1|, signed).
