Mesh Sculptor
Mesh Sculptor creates high-resolution parametric meshes by sweeping a 2D cross-section along a profile spline and applying displacement effects. Unlike the G-code Sculptor (which generates G-code directly), Mesh Sculptor exports STL files that you slice in your preferred slicer.
What It Is
- Profile spline — the same Bézier radius-over-height editor used by the G-code Sculptor, defining the object silhouette.
- Cross-sections — circle, polygon (3–16 sides), sine wave, Koch snowflake fractal, or fully custom Bézier curves.
- Effects stack — 25+ displacement effects (waves, textures, organic patterns, shape transforms) applied sequentially to mesh vertices along surface normals.
- Shell system — hollow objects with configurable wall thickness and inner wall behavior.
- STL export — watertight mesh ready for any slicer or manufacturing process.
What You Can Build
- Textured vases — knurled, woven, or wave-patterned vessels with precise wall thickness
- Geometric containers — polygon cross-sections with corner fillets and faceted surfaces
- Organic sculptures — flowing noise, Voronoi, and iso-surface patterns on curved forms
- Mechanical-themed objects — gear teeth, twisted hex bars, and drill-bit spirals
- Fractal art — Koch snowflake cross-sections with twist and surface effects
Your First Mesh Sculptor Print
- Open 3dSynth and select Mesh Sculptor
- Shape the profile spline (or keep the default cylinder)
- Choose a cross-section (try Hexagon with corner radius)
- Add one effect (try Surface Waves at 1 mm depth)
- Enable the Inner Wall and set thickness to 1.2 mm
- Add a Bottom Cap from the Utility effects
- Export as STL and slice in your preferred slicer
