Tutorial 13: SDF Smooth Blend Sculpture
Chain SDF Sphere and SDF Torus with SDF Union (non-zero smoothness for fillet-like blends), then SDF Subtract with an SDF Box to carve—Quilez-style CSG art in the SDF graph.

What you'll learn
- smin-style smoothness on Union and Subtract
- Placing centers and radii in 3D for composition
- Marching Cubes domain size to frame the sculpture
Prerequisites
- Tutorial 11 (marching cubes workflow)
Step 1: Union then subtract
Step 1
Sphere + Torus → Union → Box subtract
Build Sphere and Torus SDFs; Union with smoothness ~4–5. Subtract the Box SDF from the union (watch center / size so the box actually cuts into the blend). Route the result to Marching Cubes and then Output Preview mesh.
Outcome
Abstract printable art with soft transitions—hard to match with triangle Mesh Boolean alone.
