Tutorial 1: Your First Fabric Stack

Fabric Sculpt turns 2D line generators into stacked extrusion G-code. Unlike G-code Sculptor (a height–radius profile) or Mesh Sculptor (an STL), this module fits a line pattern to your bed and stacks it in Z.

Step 1: Open Fabric Sculpt

Add the module

From the empty canvas, click the Fabric Sculpt card (or use the sidebar + and pick Fabric Sculpt). The left dock switches to Pattern and Print.


Step 2: Pick a generator

Choose parallel-lines or fabric-weave

In Pattern, open Generator and choose parallel-lines or fabric-weave. Leave numeric fields at their defaults for the first print. The preview regenerates after a short debounce.


Step 3: Optional filter

Add a filter only if you want a comparison

Under Filters, you can Add filter (for example corner-rounding or noise-displacement). Toggle the filter’s checkbox off to compare before and after. Use Remove if you do not want it. Skip this step for a first stack.

Set a visible layer count

In Stack (G-code), set Layers to 4080 so the stack is easy to see. Try Alternate layer rotation at 1545 degrees if you want shifted layers. Use Z offset only when you need a first-layer vertical nudge.


Step 5: Printer presets and bed fit

Confirm the bed

Open the Print tab and confirm bed dimensions match your machine. Fabric Sculpt scales the XY pattern to fit this bed (with margin).


Step 6: Preview and export

Inspect, then download

Use the viewport layer / height controls to inspect a band of layers. When the preview looks right, use Download G-code from the toolbar. The filename prefix follows the Fabric Sculpt module type.


Outcome

You should see a 3D toolpath of the stacked pattern and a downloadable .gcode file tuned to your Print preset.
