Mapping

Texturize does not use the mesh’s stored UV atlas. It builds world-space coordinates from the bounding box (and vertex normals, for triplanar / cubic / cylindrical caps). Size U and Size V are pattern periods in millimetres, not 0–1 tile counts.

Default projection is Triplanar. Change it from Projection in the Projection card.

Projections

Modes

Triplanar (default)
Samples the heightmap on the YZ, XZ, and XY planes and blends by the vertex normal. Corners and organic shapes stay continuous. Transition (Masks card, 0–1, default 0.5) raises blend sharpness — 0 is a wide mix, 1 is closer to hard face splits. Scale reference: largest bbox edge.
Cubic (Box)
Picks the dominant normal axis and uses the matching planar map (YZ for ±X, XZ for ±Y, XY for ±Z). Good for CAD boxes and chamfered blocks. Optional Cap blend (Advanced) treats near-horizontal normals as a top/bottom cap.
Cylindrical
U wraps around Z (atan2), V runs along height. Natural for vases, bottles, and lathe bodies. U’s millimetre scale is referenced to the bounding circumference. Optional Cap blend switches steep lids to planar XY so the top does not pinch.
Spherical
Longitude / latitude from the bounding-box centre. Use on roundish parts; poles can pinching. U references circumference, V references π × radius.
Planar XY
Projects along Z onto the XY plane (top-down). Best for a single lid, a coin, or a panel that only needs texture on the horizontal face. Side walls stretch.
Planar XZ
Projects along Y. Texture a wall facing ±Y.
Planar YZ
Projects along X. Texture a wall facing ±X.

Scale, offset, rotation

Transform fields

Size U / Size V (mm)
World-space period of one heightmap repeat (1–200, default 25). On the 50 mm cube, 25 mm is two repeats across a face. Smaller = denser pattern; the export subdivider still has to resolve it (Preview and export page).
Lock U = V
Chain button between the two sliders. On by default. Turning it off lets you stretch the map (wood grain along height, for example).
Offset U / Offset V
Shifts the sample in repeats, not millimetres (−5 to 5). 0.5 U slides the pattern by half a tile.
Rotation (°)
Rotates the UV after scale (−180 to 180). Useful to align knurl diamonds or brick courses with an edge.

Cap blend

Cap blend appears under Advanced when Projection is Cylindrical or Cubic. Range 0–45°, default 0.

Normals whose Z component is steeper than cos(cap) use a planar XY sample instead of the side mapping. Raise it until the lid stops stretching; too high and a band of the shoulder flattens into the cap map.

Triplanar already blends the top plane — you do not need Cap blend there. Transition is the triplanar equivalent of seam control.

How millimetre scale is computed

The engine converts Size U/V into UV repeats using a reference length from the axis-aligned bounding box:

Rotating the part (Rotate X/Y/Z or Place on Face) changes the box, so the same Size U can look denser after a re-orient. Re-tune Size after placing.
