Slot Shape

This effect replaces the circular cross-section with a rounded rectangle: a rectangular footprint with continuous corner rounding along the full outline. It is ideal for slot-like or track-like outer walls. It is not the same as Capsule Shape, which uses straight long sides and semicircular end caps (a stadium outline). Shape effects define cross-section geometry only; they do not add displacement and do not support Growth Curve.

Parameters

Width (mm)
Outer width of the rounded rectangle (1–500 mm).
Length (mm)
Outer length of the rounded rectangle (1–500 mm).
Spiral (°)
Rotation of the silhouette that increases with height (−1800° to 1800°).
Phase
Angular offset around the layer (0–6.28 rad).

How It Works

The slot cross-section is a rectangle with filleted corners: curvature is distributed at the corners rather than concentrated in two half-disks at the ends. The outline is closed and smooth (subject to the fillet geometry), then scaled by your height profile like other shape effects.

If you need parallel straight sides with semicircular caps, that is the Capsule Shape construction. Choosing between them is about which outline matches your part: corner-based rounding versus end-cap rounding.
