Pattern texture

Unified heightmap effect: choose a built-in procedural pattern, a bundled SVG tile, a Simple kernel, or a bundled raster image. One stack entry, one pipeline — Voronoi stays a separate effect.

Effect Controls

Interactive preview is available in the interactive reader.

Parameters

Heightmap source
Built-in pattern, SVG library, Simple kernel, or Image library (bundled PNG/JPEG under textures/).
Pattern
Which built-in procedural family to use when source is Built-in pattern.
SVG pattern
When using SVG library, pick a bundled file. Its luminance becomes the bump heightmap.
Mirror U / V
Flip the rasterized heightmap around the perimeter (U) or along height (V).
Pattern detail
For built-in patterns, drives feature count/density (each family uses it differently). Not used for SVG library heightmaps.
Density, Contrast, Thickness, Softness
Pattern-specific shaping; labels in the UI match the selected built-in pattern.
Resolution
For SVG library tiles: targets the longest edge in pixels; the preview shows the resulting bitmap width × height. For built-in patterns, drives raster detail as before.
Ratio
Scales the intrinsic tile aspect from the SVG (viewBox or pattern size). Use 1 to match the file; adjust if an old preset assumed a square bitmap.
Rotation / Tiling
Rotate the heightmap and set repeat counts around U and V.
Depth (mm)
Radial displacement from the heightmap (default 0.5 mm). Positive raises, negative carves.

SVG library: sizing and seamless tiles

Bundled svg/*.svg tiles derive bitmap width and height from the file’s viewBox or the first pattern element’s width/height, so non-square tiles (wide waves, tall triangles) keep their proportions.
