Hex Adapter

A hexagonal adapter that converts between two hex sizes — use it to press-fit an inner hex shaft or bolt head into a larger hex socket, or to bridge tools with different hex interfaces. The part is a short, solid hex prism with a hex hole through the middle, and independent clearance controls for inner and outer fits.

Parameters (sliders)

Parameters

Inner Size
Flat-to-flat distance (across-flats, AF) of the inner hex hole in mm. Match the hex key, bolt, or shaft you want to slide through.
Outer Size
Flat-to-flat distance of the outer hex shape in mm. Match the socket or tool you want the adapter to fit into.
Height
Axial height of the adapter (mm).
Inner Oversize
Enlarges the inner hole for a clearance fit (0–1 mm). Start at 0.2 mm for most PLA prints.
Outer Undersize
Shrinks the outer shape for a tighter fit into a socket (0–1 mm). Start at 0.2 mm.
Extrusion Width
Line width for radius adjustment (mm). Typically match your nozzle size (0.4–0.6 mm).
Multi-part Offset X
X offset between copies when Quantity > 1 (mm). 0 means stacked along Y only.
Multi-part Offset Y
Y offset between copies (mm). Controls spacing between adjacent parts on the bed.
Quantity
Number of adapters generated in one job (1–5).

How it works

  1. The outer hex is drawn at radius (Outer Size / 2 − Outer Undersize); the inner hex at (Inner Size / 2 + Inner Oversize).
  2. Each layer prints the outer and inner hex outlines plus a perimeter offset based on Extrusion Width, giving a dense wall between the two hexagons.
  3. Height layers stack straight up — no rotation or twist — so the finished part matches drill-bit tolerances.
