Flow Ridges
Vertical ridges that wiggle laterally along the height, creating flowing, river-like patterns across the surface. The ridges run vertically but deviate sideways following a sinusoidal "flow" function, producing organic, tree-bark-like or river-delta patterns.
Parameters
Amplitude- Ridge height in mm (0–20). Controls how far the ridges protrude from the surface.
Ridge Count- Number of ridges around the circumference (1–40). More ridges create a denser pattern.
Flow Amount- How far the ridges deviate laterally (0–3). At 0, ridges are perfectly straight. Higher values make the ridges snake more dramatically.
Flow Freq- Frequency of the lateral sine wave along the height (0.1–10). Controls how many wiggles each ridge makes from bottom to top.
Sharpness- Ridge peak sharpness (0.1–4). Values below 1 create broad, rounded ridges. Values above 1 create sharp, narrow ridges with flat valleys.
Phase- Phase offset in radians (0–2\u03C0). Rotates the ridge pattern around the circumference.
How It Works
Flow Ridges starts with evenly spaced vertical ridges (like Line Pattern in vertical mode), then applies a height-dependent lateral offset to each ridge. The offset follows a sine function — at each height, all ridges shift sideways by the same amount, causing them to flow together in wave-like paths.
The Sharpness parameter controls the ridge cross-section profile. Values above 1 apply a power function that narrows the peaks while widening the valleys, creating well-defined ridge lines. Values below 1 do the opposite, creating broad, gentle humps.
