Half Blobs

Half Blobs uses the same grid as Radial Blobs but applies an asymmetric vertical profile: each bump ramps up and drops off abruptly (or the reverse), so the silhouette reads directional. Flip Direction swaps whether the flat or the steep side faces upward. It is useful for drip-like scales, shingles, and one-sided grip pads.

Parameters

Columns
Blob centers around the circumference (1–30).
Bulge (mm)
Peak protrusion of each asymmetric bump (0–10 mm).
Rows
Vertical bands of blobs along height (1–50).
Sharpness
How tight the bump profile is in the horizontal direction (0.05–2).
Pinch to Round
Blends the bump tip from sharp to round in profile (0–1).
Flip Direction
Reverses ramp direction so bumps “grow” upward or hang downward (boolean).
Hex Grid
Staggers alternating rows for hexagonal tiling (boolean).
Spiral (°)
Twists the grid progressively with height (−1800–1800).

How It Works

Each cell still uses a radial base shape, but the vertical envelope is biased so energy concentrates on one side of the bump’s height range. Flip mirrors that bias, which changes lighting and shadow direction on prints. Pinch to Round and Sharpness behave like Radial Blobs but interact with the half-profile to control how abrupt the “cut” feels at the top or bottom of each stud.
