Z-Undulation (Weave)
Adds a sinusoidal Z displacement along each path, so the extrusion physically rises and falls as it prints. Perfect for real 3D woven surfaces where over/under crossings translate into actual height variation.

Parameters
Z-Undulation parameters
Z Amplitude (mm)- Peak Z offset applied to each point, in mm. Range 0–5, default 0.5. Keep within ~1 layer height for non-planar prints on most FDM machines; larger amplitudes may cause collisions with the nozzle.
Wavelength (mm)- Arc-length distance between consecutive Z peaks, in mm. Range 1–50, default 5. Uses the path arc length, so the wave is distributed evenly along curves regardless of sampling.
Phase Shift- Phase offset in radians. Range 0 to 2π, default 0. Shift the wave along the path to align with your weave pattern.
Unlike other displacement filters which use coordinate-based sine, Z-Undulation integrates the arc length along each path. This gives consistent peaks even if points are non-uniformly spaced.
Typical use
- Real 3D weaves — pair with Fabric Weave generator so the physical print actually rises and falls like textile.
- Non-planar surface texture — add subtle ripples to flat prints for grip or decoration.
- Print trick: over/under layering — alternate paths with opposite phase shifts to make visible over/under crossings.
