Fabric Sculpt Tutorial
Goal: Add Fabric Sculpt, create a simple stacked pattern, preview it in 3D, and export G-code.
Prerequisites: 3dSynth installed or open in the browser; a printer preset with a realistic bed size (Fabric Sculpt fits the pattern to that rectangle).
Steps
- Open or start a project — From the empty canvas, click the Fabric Sculpt card (or use the sidebar + to add a module and pick Fabric Sculpt). The app switches the left dock to Pattern and Print tabs.
- Pick a generator — In Pattern, open Generator and choose fabric-weave or parallel-lines. Adjust numeric fields to taste; the preview regenerates after a short debounce.
- Optional: add a filter — Under Filters, choose Add filter → e.g. corner-rounding or noise-displacement. Toggle the filter’s checkbox off to compare before/after. Remove a filter with Remove if you don’t want it.
- Set stack options — In Stack (G-code), set Layers to
40–80for a visible stack. Try Alternate layer rotation at15–45degrees to see shifted layers. Use Z offset only if you need a first-layer vertical nudge (matches the label in the app). - Check printer presets — Open the Print tab and confirm bed dimensions match your machine. Fabric Sculpt scales the XY pattern to fit this bed (with margin).
- Preview — Use the viewport layer / height controls as you would for other G-code previews to inspect a band of layers.
- Export — Use Download G-code from the toolbar when the preview is ready. Filename prefix follows the Fabric Sculpt module type.
Outcome
You should see a 3D toolpath preview of your stacked pattern and a downloadable .gcode file tuned to your Print preset.
